With classic style, these windows allow you to open your home to the outside. Both sides of the window open fully, leaving you with a completely uninterrupted open view. They open in a similar fashion as French doors. There are two sashes – one called the Master, the other the Slave. Only the Master sash can be opened freely while the Slave (together with the floating mullion) can only be opened when the Master sash is also open.
Fire and building regulations state that at least one window in the home must be able to be fully opened to allow you to exit in an emergency.
French casements are a highly functional solution to building control requirements for minimum fire escape widths, making these windows an ideal feature for any home. As well as this, added security to the Slave comes in the form of a shoot bolt with an Espagnolette to the Master. With these French windows, you can have peace of mind knowing that you have a window that provides unrestricted means of escape should there ever be needed in an emergency.
